Main accound and Smurf Account

Before I buy i just want to make sure. If i only hack on my smurf account and get VAC banned. Will my main account be VAC banned as well? I have read somewhere that both accounts will be banned. Just want to make sure before i buy.

You can't have two steam accounts with the same email tho.
