CS2 performance helper
CS2 autoexec generator
Create a small, explained config for frame limits and optional visual preferences. Choose your CPU and GPU for matching guidance. Main graphics quality still belongs in the game’s Video settings.

Your setup
Your autoexec.cfg
Steam launch options
Review your existing options rather than adding conflicting renderer or frame-limit settings.
CPU and GPU guidance
Your choices only tailor this guide. They do not force a thread count, change Windows settings or send hardware details to a service.
Automatic CPU scheduling
Leave thread selection automatic. The engine has a real -threads override, but an untested number can restrict or oversubscribe its worker pool.
Intel CPU
No Intel-specific autoexec is needed. Keep the engine’s automatic worker selection; CPU brand alone cannot supply a correct -threads value, including on processors with different core types.
AMD CPU
No AMD-specific autoexec is needed. Keep worker selection automatic. Ryzen and X3D branding is not evidence for a universal -threads count or a process-priority tweak.
Start with the video menu
Use the game’s current graphics menu and your GPU vendor’s official driver. Keep driver overrides at defaults for the first comparison, then change one option at a time.
NVIDIA GPU
Use NVIDIA Reflex in Advanced Video on supported hardware. Start with Enabled if you want reduced latency; Enabled + Boost can cost power and some FPS. It is not a maximum-FPS preset. Start the NVIDIA driver’s game profile at defaults instead of stacking untested overrides.
AMD Radeon GPU
On supported hardware, use the integrated AMD Anti-Lag 2 option in the game for latency testing. Support depends on the GPU and driver. It is a latency feature, not a promise of higher FPS; keep unrelated Radeon overrides at defaults for your baseline.
Intel GPU
Use a current official driver for your exact GPU. Neither the NVIDIA Reflex name nor AMD Anti-Lag 2 makes a suitable Intel preset. Test DX11 against Vulkan rather than assuming either wins. Intel has documented a CS2 performance investigation affecting Arc B570/B580; check its current support advice if relevant.
For synchronization, choose whether you prioritize tearing-free output, latency or raw FPS. “Always disable V-Sync” is not the whole answer for a VRR setup. Valve’s video and synchronization recommendations.
Where the larger gains usually come from
Use Video settings to compare resolution, MSAA, ambient occlusion, shaders and particles. Lowering GPU work helps when the GPU is the limit; it cannot guarantee a fix for CPU stalls. Shadows and player-visibility options also affect what you can see, so review those trade-offs before reducing them.
An autoexec cannot safely unlock protected rendering options for matchmaking. This generator does not modify game files, drivers, anti-cheat behavior or Windows settings.
Install and compare
- Back up your existing autoexec.cfg and merge any binds or personal settings you want to keep. This generated file does not include them.
- Use Steam → CS2 → Manage → Browse local files. Save the file in
game\csgo\cfg\autoexec.cfg. Make sure Windows has not named it autoexec.cfg.txt. - Restart the game, or run
exec autoexec.cfgin its developer console. Look forHexui autoexec loaded. - Warm up shaders, use the same demo or scene, and compare several runs. Check average FPS, slow frame times/1% lows and latency separately. Change one setting at a time.
- To undo changes, restore the values you used before. Removing an archived command from this file does not necessarily reset its saved value.
Commands that guides often get wrong
“Not found” describes the inspected Windows build, not a guarantee about future updates. A working command is not proof of an FPS gain.

fps_maxUsable- Controls the in-game frame cap. Zero removes this limiter; it does not guarantee higher FPS or better frame times.Evidence: engine2.dll · 0x17302 · flags 0x80080
fps_max_uiUsable- Controls the menu frame cap. The shipped gameinfo.gi default is 200 in this build. Reducing it saves menu rendering work, not in-match work.Evidence: engine2.dll · 0x173ac · flags 0x80
r_drawtracers_firstpersonOptional visual preference- Can hide first-person tracers. Any FPS benefit has not been measured.Evidence: client.dll · 0xd7aa0 · flags 0x80080
cl_allow_animated_avatarsOptional UI preference- Can disable animated avatars. An FPS improvement has not been measured.Evidence: client.dll · 0xfb22e · flags 0x80080
r_show_build_infoCosmetic- Hides build information; not a meaningful FPS recommendation. Retain it for bug reports.Evidence: client.dll · 0x128250 · flags 0x80080
engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tickBenchmark only- Moves a low-latency sleep relative to client simulation when r_low_latency is enabled. It is a scheduling choice, not a universal FPS fix.Evidence: engine2.dll · 0x182a0 · flags 0x80000
cl_interpReporting command- Accepts no interpolation setting: its callback warns when you supply a value. Omitted from the generator.Evidence: client.dll · 0xb66a8
cl_interp_ratioNot an FPS setting- Still registered as a bounded user-information convar in this build. Do not label it removed; it concerns interpolation, not rendering speed.Evidence: client.dll · 0xb6756 · flags 0x200
r_drawparticlessv_cheats restricted- The registration carries CHEAT. It is not an ordinary matchmaking optimization.Evidence: particles.dll · 0x1894 · flags 0x400104000
cl_disable_ragdollssv_cheats restricted- The registration carries CHEAT. Omitted from generated configs.Evidence: client.dll · 0xb655c · flags 0x4000

panorama_disable_blurDevelopment-only by default- Raw flags 0x10 acquire DEVELOPMENTONLY through the constructor default rule. Omitted.Evidence: panorama.dll · 0x48ebc · flags 0x10
r_texture_stream_mip_biasDevelopment-only by default- Raw flags 0 acquire DEVELOPMENTONLY through the constructor default rule. Omitted.Evidence: rendersystemdx11.dll · 0x7ead · flags 0x0

r_low_latencyUse the video menu- Raw flags 0 acquire DEVELOPMENTONLY through the renderer constructor. The video menu can apply internal values; that does not make it a public autoexec setting.Evidence: rendersystemdx11.dll · 0x6583 · flags 0x0

What we verified
Read-only static inspection of this game build: convar registrations and restriction flags, the launcher’s handoff to engine2!Source2Main, hashed command-line lookups and their consumer branches. The option hash is lowercase MurmurHash2 with seed 0x31415926. No game process was patched.
No before/after FPS benchmark was performed. This page verifies command availability and code paths, not universal performance improvements. Later game builds need rechecking.
